1) Citi ThankYou Preferred

Citi ThankYou Preferred cardholders earn 2 ThankYou Points per dollar spent on eligible dining and entertainment purchases. The dining category includes:

  • Restaurants (including take-out)
  • Bars
  • Cocktail Lounges
  • Nightclubs
  • Taverns
  • Fast-food establishments

The entertainment category includes the following:

  • Sports promoters (live sporting events and purchases at sports stadiums)
  • Theatrical promoters (live theatrical productions and concerts)
  • Amusement parks (zoos, aquariums and circuses)
  • Tourist attractions and museums (including art galleries)
  • Record stores
  • Video rental stores (including online video rentals)

All other purchases earn 1ThankYou Point per dollar spent.

Points do not expire as long as your account remains open and in good standing. There is no limit on the amount of points you may earn.

New members can take advantage of the current signup bonus from Citi – earn 20,000 bonus ThankYou Points after making $1,500 in eligible purchases within the first three months that your account is open. Additionally, Citi is offering a 0% introductory APR on purchases and balance transfers for the first 12 billing cycles.

Citi ThankYou Preferred has no annual fee.

2) Citi ThankYou Premier

Cardmembers earn 3X ThankYou Points on travel including destination travel transactions such as airfare and hotels as well as everyday travel purchases such as gas, tolls and taxis. Account holders earn 2X ThankYou Points on dining and entertainment. Dining includes restaurants and coffee shops. Entertainment purchases include movie theatres, concerts, sporting events, and music downloads. All other purchases earn 1 ThankYou Point per dollar spent.

ThankYou Points are not capped. Points do not expire as long as your account remains active and in good standing.

New cardholders can earn 50,000 bonus ThankYou Points after spending $3,000 in purchases within the first three months of account opening. These bonus points can be redeemed for up to $625 in travel rewards (airfare) or up to $500 in gift cards or other rewards. There is no introductory APR currently available for either purchases or balance transfers.

Citi ThankYou Premier has an annual fee of $95 which is waived for the first year of membership.

3) American Express Gold Card

Members earn 3X points for flights booked directly with airlines. Purchases made at U.S. gas stations and supermarkets earn 2X points. A new benefit to members is 2X points earned on U.S. restaurant transactions. All other purchases earn 1X point per dollar spent.

New account holders can receive 25,000 Membership Rewards Points after spending $2,000 on purchases during the first three months that your account is open.

Members can receive up to $100 per calendar year in statement credits when incidental fees such as checked bags, flight-change fees or in-flight refreshments are charged by the airline from which you purchased your airfare (and charged to your American Express Gold Card).

This card is a charge card which means that the entire balance is due in full each month. Therefore, members are not assessed interest charges.

American Express Gold Card comes with an annual fee of $195 which is waived for the first year.
